‘Don’t ever take a fence down until you know why it was put up in the first place.’

We Mixed it Up this morning after our lie-in. We thought we might go for some different sports and games (what’s the difference between a sport and game anyway?) in that bit between a late start to the day and lunch. So it was baseball with a tennis ball and tennis racket; kickball with one of our six new dodge-balls; 6-a-side soccer on the sport court, and football tennis. We split the boys into age groups and let them get on with it for the remainder of the morning. And a what a beautiful morning it was to mix-it-up.

The rain that has not fallen for a while is beginning to tell. The grass is starting to dry out and turn a sandy brown colour. The heat and humidity would suggest a thunderstorm anytime soon, but that does not appear to be happening. I’m not going to pray for rain and ruin tomorrow, but some precipitation overnight would be good right now.

The boys finished the Spelling Bee about 10 mins ago. It was great to see one of the younger boys beat one of the Senior Cabin members to the title this year. Everyone has their talent, so the less athletic boys had a chance to shine tonight, and they sure took that opportunity. We all have our place in this world. Finding it and mining might be one of the hardest things we have to do in life, but find it we must. We give all those different talents the chance to find their place at camp.

Right now I need to find a shower and a bed in which to net 9 hours well-earned rest – if possible.

We’ve made it to the first weekend of the second session, and all is well, so safely rest.

Goodnight everybody.

As ever…WOODY!
