‘Don’t ever take a fence down until you know why it was put up in the first place’.

Big Brother, Little Brother! That’s what we did this evening. With so many new boys here at camp this year, we wanted to make sure that everyone could get to know everyone else, and what better way to do that than by pairing older boys up with younger boys, just like big brother, little brother. So, in pairs (and some threes) the boys set off to complete a number of tasks around camp this evening, and in doing so they hopefully got to know each other better. And I think it worked. The younger boys certainly look up to the older boys, and they need to learn the ways of camp  – the songs, the traditions, the reasons why – and in teaming them up like this they will interact and understand each other.

We are finishing the week as we started it, with plenty of instructional and leagues. I ask if it is the end of the week, as in our world the week never really ends or begins. Weekends don’t really mean anything, save for Sunday when we go lazy style, and every day is so action-packed and busy that there really is no distinction between a Monday or a Saturday. And I’m not complaining by the way: I love a busy day and a full camp.

I’m writing this as the CITs are hosting the ladies from Chippewa down at Sand Lake. Noise carries up here in the wilderness, so I guess they’re having fun and socialising.

And if they’re having fun then all is well, so safely rest.

Goodnight everybody.

As ever…WOODY!
