Competition Prep’

‘Excellence is the gradual result of always striving to do better’. Pat Riley

Competition day!! We spent most of yesterday getting ready for today’s events (tennis, archery, riflery and basketball). The boys got their team competition jerseys last night and they were very excited about that. We also went to bed relatively early, but so did the computer (so to speak), hence this morning post.
I have to tell about the big CM counselor softball win over the guys from Kawaga on Monday evening. The result was not yet in when I wrote the Word that day, but from 1-6 down the Good Guys came back to win the game and lead the counselor series of games 2-0. That’s volleyball and now softball in the bag. Next up is basketball on Saturday night. If the boys can replicate what the counselors have done, both in terms of winning and playing the game in the right way, then we will all be moving in the right direction.
Modesty prevented me from telling you about a dedication ceremony we had on Monday evening. Much to my surprise, Steve and Bari have decided to name the soccer field after me. A new plaque that reads, ‘Woody’s Pitch’ now hangs on the soccer shed at the entrance to camp. I join the great names of the past – Bob Bender, Al Lewis, Jim Wyeth, Alan and Elaine Wasserman, Koz – and I am very happy and honored to be there alongside them. For all of you out there whose lives I have touched over the years, please know that I have been touched too. Then, as now, this continues to be a great place to be in the summer months.
Everyone is looking good and all is well, so safely rest.
Goodnight everybody.
As ever…WOODY!
