Menominee. Great place to be!

‘It is a good rule to hope for the best’.

So Lazy Day Sunday is almost over. We’ve had a great day which was kicked off by a visit from the sheriff this morning. This has become something of a tradition here at camp and Deputy Fogerty was well received by the boys. He brought his police-issue vehicle with all of his equipment – guns, night sights, camouflage vest, SWAT vest etc – and he spent a good half hour showing the boys how it all worked and what his job entails. As a means of forging greater community links and making the boys aware of the real world out there, then this is a wonderful opportunity that we heartily endorse and support.
This afternoon we got into some team practices for a competition we’ve got coming up this week. As many of you will already know, one of the highlights of the summer is the athletic competition with our great rival, Camp Kawaga. Spread over a day and a half, the competition encompasses most of the sports we play here, including wrestling – remember 2005??!!?? It is both an enjoyable and intense affair and it will teach the boys a great deal about winning and losing. I’ll tell you more about the competition in the next few days in the build up to Wednesday and Thursday.
Dinner was hot-dogs in the woods with Sundaes on Sunday in the mess hall.
It’s a lot warmer tonight than this time last Sunday. Yes, that’s one week gone already!!
We’re enjoying every minute and all is well, so safely rest.
Goodnight everybody.
As ever…WOODY!
