Sun and Wind

‘Don’t ever take a fence down until you know why it was put up in the first place’. Just good advice.

The Sun came out and the Wind did blow. Yes folks, Sun and Wind is back! This is a great competition in which everyone takes part. The counselors are on teams, with two counselor captains leading the way. It all started at lunchtime when the two captains got into a ‘fight’ in the mess hall. The fake fight was then interrupted by Jason who declared that, ‘the only way to settle this was by Sun and Wind’.
The first game we played was Capture the Flag out on the golf course. For many of the boys, this was a new experience as we usually play Capture the Flag in the gully, right in front of the mess hall. But out on the golf course we have so much more room to play. It made for an exciting experience as the Sun dominated a best of three series to win 2-0. It could have gone to a third game had the Wind flag been caught as it sailed over the line, but alas, it was not and the Sun was just too hot in the end.
We will continue the competition tomorrow as we say goodbye to our last trip that heads off to Copper Falls in the morning. That is a one night camping experience for the younger boys.
Tonight we were entertained in Wasserman Hall by the ladies from Fox Sounds, a singing group from down state. Dawn, our camp nurse, is a member of the group and they were wonderful; such beautiful voices and perfect harmonies. The boys were very appreciative and they all joined when they were asked to.
What a great way to start the weekend. And there is so much more to come. The weather is behaving itself and all is well, so safely rest.
Goodnight everybody.
