Thrilling day of competition

‘The honey badger fears no foe’.

What a day!! We only finished the final event 35 minutes ago as the light was fading fast. That was the wrestling meet, and we were victorious in that. Wrestling has definitely been one of our strengths over the years, as has 16A softball, and we won that too. Winning those events does not a competition make – to paraphrase Shakespeare – but it does serve as some consolation for a score-line that reads, 37-29 in favor of Kawaga. The boys from both camps played hard with heart and determination. In near perfect conditions the day started with Neucombe (for the younger guys) and football for the Seniors. There was a lot to pack in, so we followed that quickly with soccer and volleyball. The afternoon saw the softball diamonds take centre stage before the final event of the day, wrestling. It’s been a long and memorable day and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the players and coaches and referees and umpires for all the good work they have done to help make this competition the great success that it is.
We will almost certainly have a lie-in, lazy-day style tomorrow. We have all worked hard and the boys need their rest and recuperation. It’s been a great day and all is well, so safely rest.
Goodnight everybody.
As ever…WOODY!
