“You see things, and you say,”why’? But I dream things that never were, and I say, “Why not?” George Bernard Shaw.

Session two began this afternoon, as the buses pulled in almost bang on time at 2.55. We were having a minor heatwave at the time (85 degrees), so we did all the intros’ outside at the picnic tables. After the cabins were introduced it was time for some admin’ type stuff and sign-ups for activities. With 182 campers, that took some time, but we got there in the end, and dinner was called only 15 minutes later than planned. The Mess Hall was packed! What a great atmosphere we had in there.  As is traditional, we played some Capture the Flag in the gully as our opening event this evening, and now the boys are showering before we head to the fire for our opening night get-together.

I want to take this opportunity to thank all those first-session parents who sent their boy(s) to the Friendly Confines. Letting go of your most treasured ‘possession’ for a few days, let alone a few weeks, is not the easiest thing to do, but we are very glad that you trusted us enough to take care of them. And to all those parents who came by camp over visiting weekend, it was sure to good to see you here.

Second session is going to be great. We have so much stuff planned. I hope to keep you across all of it here on the Word. You can also read the Megaphone online, too. I’m going to publish this now so that I can get to the fire and help with the ‘meet and greet’.

We’re only a few hours in, and all is well, so safely rest.

Goodnight everybody.

As ever…WOODY!
