“It is not enough to have a good mind: the key is to use it well.”

Second session is underway! The buses rocked up a little before 2.45 yesterday (right on cue, I might add) with a big crowd already here, and the sun blazing down. We’ve never had this many boys here, and we knew it by the time we got into the Mess Hall for dinner. It was packed! The noise and the atmosphere were great. This is what camp should be like.

As is traditional now, we got into Capture the Flag in the gully early in the evening, followed by showers before gathering down at Sand Lake for the first real campfire of the session. Hosted by Tom Adler and his guitar (and awful jokes), it was dark by the time we sang Taps and retired for the day.

This morning the sun continued to shine as we got into the Big Ten instructional. This is where the boys have signed up to learn how to play certain sports. They do not have to sign up for anything in particular, although they do have to sign up for something, so everyone was busy as the temperature rose to the upper 70s.

After lunch it was time to sign up for Campus Clash, our six team competition that runs for the next two weeks. This kind of sets the tone for the upcoming competition with our great and friendly rival in Minocqua later in the session, so we encourage the boys to play hard and learn how to compete the right way.

It was Twilight League this evening. At one point around 7pm, we had nine games of softball going on around the grounds. We are lucky, indeed, to have room to do so much. And now we are going to enjoy an early night. It’s hot and humid and we need our sleep, but all is well, so safely rest.

Goodnight everybody.

As ever…WOODY!
