“Train your mind, and your body will follow.”

Forgive me for not writing yesterday, but it was busy and late and I simply ran out of steam at the end. So I need to catch up with yesterday’s news as well as today. The wrestling guys came to town yesterday and put on a great show on the near basketball court. The temperature had dipped somewhat from the previous day, but it didn’t rain so we simply put on another layer and got on with it. The boys had a great time cheering the guys on. Wrestling is not for the faint-hearted: they certainly take some hits when the land on the floor. With the 12.00 thrown-down it meant that we had a late lunch and so a slightly later start to the afternoon’s MSM action. But we got it all in (we always do), and a General, and then the big baseball game in the evening. We entertained a team from Rhinelander on the Al Lewis field, and the boys carried themselves very well. We lost 8-2, but baseball is not a game we excel at, although the boys that did represent the Green team did so with great enthusiasm and some skill.

We finished the evening off with Song and Cheer night. This is definitely one of the more popular campfires we do. This might be because we just turn up and sing and follow the Senior Cabin. There is no real prep’ involved, so it’s a relatively easy campfire to manage and participate in. Wasserman Hall was rocking. We had some new songs and one new echo cheer from the Senior Cabin, and we still managed to get it all done by 10pm. A long day, maybe, but a good one none-the-less.

This morning started off chilly (I almost needed my gloves for my early morning bike ride), but it soon warmed up as we got into Big Ten instructional. More MSM this afternoon, and then the Senior Cabin and the CITs headed out for their basketball and softball games at Camp Ojibwa across the other side of Eagle River town. Cabins 14,15 and 16 followed them after dinner, so our numbers are reduced here as we are about to open Canteen. I’ll have those results for you tomorrow. I’d like to think that we’ll have those boys are who remain at camp in bed and Taps played by 9.45. People are tired and sleep is good. Correction: I’ve just finished talking to the group, and Taps will be at 9.30. That doesn’t mean they’ll be asleep at 9.30, but there is a very good chance that the Juniors, at least, will be asleep by 10.

And if they are, then all will be well, so safely rest.

Goodnight everybody.

As ever…
