‘I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I ended up where I need to be’. Douglas Adams.
Phew!! What a great day. There aren’t many days (if any) that aren’t great here at camp, but even a day such as a regular camp day are great. By regular I mean a day that includes all the normal stuff we do here, like Final Four, Leagues and Twilight League (TLL). The Final Four – this year U. Conn, Wisconsin, Kentucky and Florida – are the instructional periods where the boys learn to do and play the sports in which we compete (and indeed some we don’t). We have coaches from all over the world here to help the boys learn the skills needed in basketball, soccer, softball, water-skiing, archery & riflery, swimming, baseball, hockey, golf, tennis, lacrosse, arts & crafts, writing, football, frisbee golf, fishing, volleyball, trampball; I think I’ve covered every base there, and we’ll also teach them how to build a fire, cook a hot-dog on said fire and how to make a bed!! We are a traditional camp that loves to play sports, compete and have fun. Fun is good, and we’ve had lots of that today.
Fish have been caught, runs have been scored, songs have been learnt, balls have been dunked, points have been won and jokes have been told. What a great day!
We finished this evening with Song and Cheer night in which the Senior cabin led the way in teaching us all how to sing and cheer CM style. Camp songs and old school songs are the best and they stay with us forever. Anyone who has ever been to camp will attest to that, and we have some of the best.
We also have a great many pictures that we put on the website every day. This year we intend to put them up in the morning when the computer speed is so much faster. At night the whole thing gets bogged down, so we want to do it when we know the pictures will get up quickly.
So as I sit here looking out over the lake, please know that all is well, so safely rest.
Goodnight everybody.
As ever…WOODY!
