“Pain and suffering are inevitable in our lives, but misery is an option.”

And no-one is miserable here today. Some are, perhaps, a little sad that we have less than a week to go, but we can pack a whole lot of camping into that time. Green and White will dominate the next week. Since I last wrote on Wednesday (Internet gremlins were back at work last night), we have played Runners and Chasers, Cipher (breaking clues and squirting plastic bottles of coloured dye at people), and some Midnight Manhunt! I’m happy to say that everyone made it through that game unscathed. Played after dark, Midnight Manhunt always makes me a bit nervous. However, it is one of the most popular games amongst the boys, so play it we must.

I’m writing this as the gully is full of the ladies from Camp Marimeta as we host them in a carnival-themed social. I’ve just taken a wander round and there is certainly a lot going on. The social takes place at the end of the Camper/Counselor Switch Day. What happens here is that the boys of the Senior Cabin take over the running of the camp by becoming myself and Jason. They write the schedule; they make the announcements, and they have a lot of fun with it. It is because of them that we have enjoyed the Slip and Slide (simply a large sheet of plastic unfurled down the hill, soaked in water, soap and baby oil), and M&M pancakes for breakfast.

The girls are now getting on their buses and all is well as we call our guys to the flag, so safely rest.

Goodnight everybody.

As ever…WOODY!
