“Never be disagreeable just because you disagree.”
Everyone is back home together tonight after trip ‘week’ concluded with the arrival of the Senior cabin vans at 4.30 this afternoon. By the sound of it, everyone had a lot of fun whether it was at the Dells or Green Bay or whitewater rafting. The younger guys who remained closer to home, spent their time canoeing and camping at a local beauty spot that also included mini-golf, ice-cream and water slides.
We come back together just in time for the 4th July when there are always some fireworks going on (pun intended). British and American WILL be happening in the next few days. I’m hoping that it cools down a bit before then as it is positively Florida weather right now (hot and humid).
I write this as we have a big crowd in the lodge for the US soccer game in the World Cup. This followed the earlier game today when the ‘mighty’ England squeezed past the Democratic Republic of Congo. In a game that England could so easily have lost, the African side did themselves proud against the household names of the England team, and Harry Kane in particular. If the US can win tonight (and that disallowed goal was offside), then football/soccer ought to dominate the headlines here for at least the next week. How about a US v England final?? Wouldn’t that be something.
In a little while, after Canteen, we are going to get together in Wasserman Hall to talk about the trips. I’m sure there will be plenty of funny stories to be told. And after that, the weather notwithstanding, it will be early to bed to catch up on some serious sleep. Trip week and 85 degree weather can be very draining, but most people are now so tired that I’m sure they could sleep just about anywhere right now. I know I could. Despite the hot and humid conditions, all is well, so safely rest.
Goodnight everybody.
As ever…WOODY!
