Woody’s Word, 21st July 2025

“How is it that one careless match can start a forest fire, yet it takes a whole box to start a campfire.”

It’s all over folks: Campus Clash has been decided. In 6th place, Arizona State; in 5th place, Florida Gators; in 4th place, UCLA; in 3rd place, Miami; 2nd place Arizona, and the top team this year, the Oregon Ducks. What a competition that went all the way to the games this afternoon.

I have to apologise for not writing the past two nights, but both nights have been late ones. It was 11.15 before we got home from Club de Noyer on Saturday after Five Year Night. With 36 new members of the club this year, it was a big night. Thanks to all the visitors and dads who came up to help make this year’s Five Year Night extra special.

Last night it was the Way that saw us get back into the cabin area around 10.45. The Way is our special program we run every Sunday evening where we recognise and celebrate certain people who have made an impact this past week. It’s a long walk out to the far end of the golf course where the Way fire is situated, but it’s worth it.

I took a break from writing the Word tonight as Green and White fever broke out down at the shower house. Jason was ostensibly explaining the ‘rules’ of ‘cement’ signing for tomorrow, when we were interrupted by noises from within the shower house. Everyone stood quietly as they listened to the recorded story of how the Grenians and the Whitians have done ‘battle’ over the years. The Whitians are on a nine-year winning streak. Can they be beaten in 2025? The teams were revealed and the Cheer Off began. After three cheers, the White team were declared the winners. So they continue where they left off last year. Could this be ten in a row? We shall see.

As we start week two of the second session, please know that all is well, so safely rest.

Goodnight everybody.

As ever…WOODY!
