“No-one is born an expert: everything must be learned.”
What a beautiful day. The local weatherologist was not wrong. It was nudging 80 degrees, although it might not have made it quite that far, but tomorrow and Saturday it will. Bring it on, I say, especially if we’re at the waterfront.
We started the Cross-Camp Classic today. Green and White met in all the sports we do here at camp. After a busy afternoon of playing, the Greens are ahead 11 – 9. I spent most of the afternoon out at the soccer pitch (field) where, ironically, I watched the Whites take three games. The Green team are certainly strong, and it will take a concerted effort by the Whites to turn this around tomorrow. They (the White team) lost Runners and Chasers yesterday, so they are now down, overall, 4-1. They need the Cross-Camp Classic to get back into the competition. After tomorrow, we will take a break from Green and White as we prep’ for the big contest with Camp Kawaga on Monday and Tuesday next week. (More on that nearer the time).
I’m writing this as the boys are in Wasserman Hall at the Song Night campfire. A campfire (by the way) is the name we give to the evening program that usually takes place after 9pm. There is no real fire involved. After that, a few cabins have pizza parties to attend. They have won various things over the past week, and this is their reward: late night pizza. All of this mean that Taps will be early tonight. With so many late nights recently, and the exhausting schedule they’ve had today, an early night would be a real boon for just about everybody. It won’t stop the Juniors getting up at the crack of dawn (does anything?), but everyone else will be very excited about more sleep. More sleep means happy people, and that, in turn, means that all is well, so safely rest.
Goodnight everybody.
As ever…WOODY!
