“Blessed are those who can give without remembering, and take without forgetting.”
Lazy Day Sunday was not so lazy as some of us got up early to paly some tennis against the boys from out west. Yes, the competition started today with all the tennis matches. They were close games, both here and over there, and we got have been 0-3 down or 3-0 up. As it is, we are 2-1 down before the start of the competition proper tomorrow. We are hoping that the weather cools off just a little bit because the 87 degrees today (with added humidity) was not for the faint hearted. Both camps look evenly matched this year, and while we have no real idea what we might expect tomorrow, we can be sure of one thing: they will want this just as much as we do. It has not gone our way these past two years, but every year dawns anew, so we are as capable of winning the whole thing as they are.
We’ve just finished The Way out on the far end of the golf course, and there is not a man (or woman) amongst us who is not keenly aware of the task that lies ahead. We have practised, we have formulated the best possible teams, we have prepared as best we can, and now all we have to do is play, make no mistakes, be positive, listen to our coaches, score goals, runs and points, while being the best possible example(s) of the Menominee way. We CAN do it!
No matter who wins, all will be well, so safely rest.
Goodnight everybody.
As ever…WOODY!
