“Do not put your faith in what statistics say until you have carefully considered what they don’t say.”

So here’s a stat’ that might warm your hearts tonight. 15-15. That’s where we are at after the first full day of competition. On what proved to be another hot and sunny day, our boys (your boys really) rose to the challenge in front of them. We saw some incredible performances from all across the age groups, performances that made the difference between winning and losing. Each event (and there are 73 of them) is worth one point, so it is essential that everyone plays their part in securing that one point. Be it 11F basketball, or 16A soccer, 13D volleyball or 11B football, everyone has a part to play in getting us in the lake tomorrow night. We will all end up at Kawaga tomorrow evening to watch and support the 16A softball team, and event that might yet decide the final outcome. Competition, when it’s this good, this competitive and this fierce is healthy for both the heart and the soul. It’s almost a shame that someone has to lose (or someone has to win, depending upon your perspective), but win or lose, a valuable life-lesson will be learnt tomorrow.

We finished the day around the fire at beautiful Sand Lake, and now I’ve just blown Taps. We’re up again at 7am, so an early night tonight is no bad thing. All is well this evening, so safely rest.

Goodnight everybody.

As ever…WOODY!
