“Truth is what comports with reality: all else is mortal speculation.”

The dust has settled on the events of yesterday, so now we can properly take stock of it all. The competition this year was close, it was fun, it was exciting, it was all we wanted it to be, save for the final result. Kawaga were worthy winners. Were it not for a few missed buckets, a few saved shots, a few loose throws, then who knows what might have happened. As it was, 38-35 was a fair reflection of what took place over the last three days. Both teams were evenly matched – as I suggested on Monday – although our 13U age group was particularly strong this year. We didn’t finish until almost 8.30 last night with the 16A softball game bringing proceedings to a close, even though 16D had just won it for Kawaga a few minutes earlier. Finishing so late meant that we did not get back to the Friendly Confines until 9.30, and then we had to eat dinner!! It really was a late one.

We are very proud of what the boys did and how they carried themselves over the course of the competition. Learning how to compete and learning how to win and lose are valuable life lessons. Although there were a few tears at the end, the boys have all ‘recovered’ and have jumped right back into things today. That meant plenty of Green and White. Capture the Energy Source (after a nice lie-in until 10am) was the first game played, followed by Counselor Hunt this afternoon. As I understand it, the Whites won both of these, so the Greens really need to win Mannequin Madness tonight in Wasserman Hall to get themselves back in the race. Of course there’s a long way to go, and as we’ve just learned in our Kawaga competition, you play until the final whistle and never give up.

So despite the painful loss to our great rivals out west, all is well, so safely rest.

Goodnight everybody.

As ever…WOODY!
