The Camp Cast

On this very special episode of The Word, Jason is joined by Cabin 14 members Jack Myerthall and Aiden Solomon to recap a beautiful day at Camp Menominee. We cover Big Ten, King of the Camp, cabin pictures and our first “Camp Fire”/Skit night of the summer.

Woody’s Word – Popcorn Wednesday

‘We don’t, necessarily, see things the way they are. We tend to see things the way we are’.

The ‘popcorn Wednesday’ is a reference to a sign I saw in town the other day, in which a bank was offering free popcorn on Wednesdays. It got me thinking that that was a strange way to entice people into a bank. ‘Come in and deposit $10,000 and you will get a free bucket of popcorn’. It actually didn’t say a bucket, but surely, for $10,000 that would be the least one would expect in terms of free popcorn. Only in America!

As I write this edition of Woody’s Word, the boys are in Wasserman Hall playing Menominee Squares, our take on the classic tic-tac-toe game. The CITs are the noughts and crosses and they are set up just like it is on the TV. That should be over pretty soon, so I’m just taking this opportunity to write while no-one else is around.

Today was much like yesterday in as much as it was as close to a normal day as we get. It won’t be long before we are mixing things up and going off piste, but for now it is instructional and leagues. I like the structure early on in the summer. It helps the boys settle in and find their feet, while keeping them busy. And busy is good. There is just too much to do and not enough hours in the day to get it all done, but there’s always tomorrow, and it will all get done eventually.

We’re eating well, (although I have lost a few pounds already: not a bad thing, necessarily), so I have to tell you about dinner today. Chinese food! What a feast. What with that and the salad bar, it was just the best meal yet. So the great food and the great weather means that all is well, so I, for one, can safely rest.

Goodnight everybody.

As ever…WOODY!
