“If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door.” Milton Berle

It was clinics day today. We moved away from Big Ten to see if we could get some different sports played. Each clinic block concentrated on certain sports including rugby, cricket, Aussie rules ‘footie’, ultimate frisbee and frisbee golf. These are not sports we normally do in Big Ten, but we wanted to expose the boys to something new and different. They were very popular, although they will never replace the camp staples, softball, football, basketball and tennis. A lot of the clinics could be played outside, no matter what the weather, which was just as well as we got another dose of rain today. There doesn’t seem to be any end in sight to the ‘liquid sunshine’ we’re having. The rain has its pros and cons, I suppose. At least no-one is getting sunburnt right now, and the grass is as lush and as green as can be. Every cloud has a silver lining, I guess.

I’m writing this as the Spelling Bee is taking place in Wasserman Hall. Indeed, I can hear the cheers from the boys as each contestant gets their respective word spelt correctly. This is one of those campfires where those that might struggle on the athletic fields excel on stage at something a little more cerebral. And so it proved. Do we know our (your) boys or what? Haha.

And now it’s all over, as I hear them crashing out into the cool night air. Perfect sleeping weather, in a perfect place, where all is well, so safely rest.

Goodnight everybody.

As ever…WOODY!
