Woody’s Word (7/29/19) – CELEBRATING GREEN, WHITE AND…JEREMY!

Posted: July 30 2019

Camp Cast

We love our camp family, specifically our Waterfront Director Jeremy. So when it’s Jeremy’s birthday we have to celebrate with a SPECTACULAR day at camp….and that we did my friends. The bday boy himself joins me on the pod to discuss League playoffs, new tournaments (paddle ball, chess and volleyball), new clinics (wrestling and rugby), Twilight League, Prime Time, the Way ceremony and….THE START OF GREEN AND WHITE. This is a must listen pod for sure!

Woody’s Word – Rain!!

‘The best thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother’

It’s Monday morning and I have been away from the computer for two days. The late nights have not helped, but here I am, soooo…..

Green and White is afoot. We wanted to start our colour war last night, but for once the rain really did stop us in our tracks. And BOY!! did it rain. It has been so dry for so long that the deluge meant that water just ran down the hill and washed into everything in its path. We woke up this morning to a very soggy looking camp. The grass will love it for sure, but for now, Green and White must wait.

So this morning we got back into some regular activities like MCAA leagues, and this afternoon it will be Twilight League. Green and White might break out tonight. The sun is also out again after the heavy rain, so it’s all good.

I’m determined to finish this Word, so I’m sitting here at 10.30 this evening after getting back from The Way where we did, indeed, start Green and White. The buried treasure of names was retrieved from the earth, and the teams were announced in front of a great fire. Green and White, our end of season colour war, is THE event of the summer. It is an honour to be chosen as a Green and White captain, and this year six long-term senior cabin members have been chosen to fill those roles. We will jump straight into the G and W games tomorrow, and for a week we will go back and forth with all manner of events, culminating in the Relay next Tuesday. This might well-be my favourite part of camp.

But for now, and just to make sure I get this published, all is well, so safely rest.

Goodnight everybody.

As ever…WOODY!
