Competition Day

We’re having a heatwave, a tropical heatwave…’

But that didn’t stop us playing Camp Timberlane this afternoon. The older boys stayed here at CM, while the younger boys went to Woodruff. And what a time they had over there. They swept all before them in a magnificent display of sportsmanship. They won everything they played, and coupled with the 13 and over victories here, it meant that we won the contest overall. They played the way we like them to play – The Menominee Way – and they did themselves, us and you proud.
We had dinner late to allow for the games to finish and then it was into the convention hall (otherwise known as Wasserman Hall) for the big political meeting. Let me explain: tomorrow is the camper/counselor switch day when campers and counselors trade places and one becomes the other for the day. The two parties – Al Lewis and Bob Bender – traded verbal jibes and promises, and it was the Al Lewis party that won. Jason and I will thus be ‘played’ by two senior cabin members and we will assume their roles in return. They will make the schedule and run the show while we get to play Twilight League and go to the planned beach party.
It’s a lot of fun and certainly something the Senior cabin like to do.
I can hear the thunder getting closer as I write, so I shall have to sign off before the computer crashes on me. Despite the weird weather, all is well, so safely rest.
Goodnight everybody.
As ever…WOODY!
