“Art is not as important as life, but how poor would life be without art.” Robert Motherwell

Please forgive my absence last night folks. Sunday night is always a late night, despite it being Lazy Day, and it was a particularly late last night: too late for me to address the computer. Actually, Lazy Day Sunday is something of a misnomer as it’s not really lazy at all. Yes, we get up later than usual (10am), but the boys need their rest by the end of the week. It’s got some sort of structure to it, but for the most part it is a very laid-back day with plenty of cabin activities, and free-play. So people are plenty active, that’s for sure. In the evening the boys go out to their respective campsites and cook their dinner. Hot dogs, now that you ask. They build a fire and hope for the best. haha. I was worried that because of all the rain we’ve lately there would be no dry wood to make a fire, but from what I saw this really wasn’t a problem. Likewise The Way. The Way is a special thing we do on Sunday evening where we take the whole camp out to the golf course, in the dark. We gather round a huge fire (and that went up without a hitch) and we reflect on the week and honour certain people for the effort they have made since the previous Sunday. We talk about the traits of The Way: Attitude: Determination: Leadership: Heart: Sportsmanship and Spirit, and focus on one trait per week. This week it was Attitude, and six people received a special lapel pin as a thank you for the attitude they have shown over the week. We then announce the Honour Cabin (Cabin 9 this week), sing Taps and then march back in. I have to say that the fire was one of the best I’ve ever seen, all the rain not-with-standing. And that’s what Sunday looks like

Today, we got back into a more structured, Big Ten kinda day. And it was hot and sunny! A great camp day in fact. We shortened Twilight League a little bit this evening, so that the boys could get showered early and come down to the lodge to watch game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final. And now they’re in Wasserman Hall doing a Lip Synch camp fire. I can hear the music playing, and the cheering after each song, so I must assume they’re having fun. Fun is good, and all is well.

Goodnight everybody

As ever…WOODY!
