“A ship in harbor is safe: but that is not what ships are for.” John A. Shedd

We woke up to glorious sunshine and no wind this morning, in stark contrast to the storm that rumbled through here in the early hours. It was loud and fierce, although not very long, but it sure did dump some rain on us. The gully, just to the north of the Mess Hall was a lake for a good few hours, and the Bob Bender Senior softball diamond has been flooded for most of the day. Mother nature is certainly playing her part in camp life thus far.

This morning we took the all-camp picture. Trying to coral 140 boys and 60 staff onto the risers at the waterfront went relatively smoothly (that’s not always the case). We were done in record time, and then jumped straight into cabin-activities. After lunch it was more King of the Camp. As promised, I can bring you the latest standings. 1. Knights, 90 points. 2. Phoenix, 84 points. 3. Thunderbirds and Dragons, both on 80 points. There’s still a lot to play for.

The CITs set out on their trip. We won’t see them again until Thursday evening.

Right now the boys are in the Mess Hall doing horse racing night. The Senior cabin are the horses, with cabins 3 and 4 (our youngest boys) as the jockeys. Jason even has the podcast set up in there to catch all the action as it happens live.

So exactly one week ago, we had just completed our first full day. Now we are at the end of the 8th full day, and all is well, so safely rest.

Goodnight everybody

As ever…WOODY!
