Everyone is settled in

‘One machine can do the work of fifty ordinary men. NO machine can do the work of one extraordinary man.’  Elbert Hubbard

It’s hard to believe that we have hit Thursday already. Where does the time go? I guess when you are having so much fun then time is almost an irrelevance. You can see why so many boys want to come to camp every year. Can you have this much fun at home?

Once again we ended up in Wasserman Hall this evening for another skit night. Tonight was Movie Night, which is, to all intents and purposes, imitation night. It is interesting to see which of the counselors get ‘picked’ on as the focus of some of the skits. It is something of an honour – believe it or not – to be ‘picked’ on in this manner. It is all in good fun and taste of course, and the boys certainly know where to get their laughs. Our evening campfire programme is already turning into one of the highlights of the summer.

But it was our athletic programme that dominated the day prior to the evening fun: big ten and leagues. Once the morning chill had evaporated things started to move apace. We had two new skiers get up today, and two boys who made it round the lake for the first time! As the temperature got up to the upper 70s by mid-afternoon we felt it prudent to cut the leagues short a bit so that we could maximise the time at the waterfront. The boys needed to cool down, and Sand Lake was the place to be.

Straight after dinner we had the second round of TLL on what was another great evening for softball.

So what a day! A normal day maybe, but a great one as always. Not only that, but as an Englishman I am now anxiously awaiting the result of the vote in the ‘Stay or Leave’ referendum in the UK. I’d love the UK to try something new – and leave. We have a lot of guys trying something new here at camp this summer, and it seems to be working for them, so why not the UK? By the time I wake tomorrow I will know the answer to that question. But until then, all is well, so safely rest.

Goodnight everybody.

As ever…WOODY!
