‘When mother nature wants to speak, she certainly makes us all look weak.’
And she spoke last night! Sorry for the delayed Word, folks, but the storm yesterday evening knocked out the internet. I don’t think this storm was as bad as two weeks ago when it knocked out the power, but it was bad enough to see us come home early from the social we were enjoying with the girls from Chippewa Ranch Camp. We had only been there for half an hour, when the clouds began to threaten. We thought it prudent at that point to ferry everyone back to CM, and so it proved when, as the last van arrived back, it started to rain and the lightning lit up the cabin area. This was real fireworks and torrential rain minus the wind. It was only 9.00 on a Saturday night, but with the storm set to linger for a while we called an end to the day and blew Taps at 9.30.
Up until that point it had been a great day. We played TLL in the morning (just to mix it up a bit) and leagues in the afternoon. The mess hall had erupted to cries of ‘naked social’ when Jason announced the trip to Chippewa, but the weather gods had other plans for us.
We live to fight another day, however, and all is well, so safely rest.
