Post Camp Party

Posted: August 17 2014

‘How is it that one careless match can start a forest fire, but it takes a whole box (and more) to start a campfire?

Post camp is over and the summer is done; and what a great summer it has been. For those of us lucky enough to spend another week in the North Woods, we have just enjoyed a week of Post/Family camp. We entertained a wonderful crowd from across the country to a week of fun and games. The mums and dads got to see how their boys spend the summer as they took part in many of the games we play here during regular season. Capture the Energy Source, British Bulldogs, Bingo, to name but a few. The sun shone and everyone played their part to create a week that will live long in the memory. Everyone who wanted to got to shoot arrows and guns and the zip-line was open every afternoon along with a full-on waterfront. We had a Home Run Derby, a visit to the ski show and a Crazy Golf Extravaganza!! There was something for everyone, and we’ll do it all again next year.
As we pack the physical part of camp away, I know that the memories from another great summer have been made and are securely tucked away inside our heads. I also know that there are many more memories (and friends) to make, so I’m already looking forward to making some new ones next year.
The camp family will be dispersed across the world in a few short weeks; from England to Australia, Chicago to Los Angeles, South Africa to Slovakia and New York to Arizona. The Camp Menominee camp fires will be burning bright no matter where you are and no matter what the weather. It is you guys – boys, parents, counselors – that make camp what it is, so we look forward to seeing you all again in 2015.
Have a wonderful winter.
All is well folks, so safely rest.
Goodnight everybody.
As ever…WOODY!
