“Being average means you are as close to the bottom as you are to the top.”

The first full day of second session, and what a day it was. Despite the rather cooler temperatures this morning, we got right into Big Ten, our instructional programme. With everyone signed up for something, every corner of camp was alive with action of some sort. It was a little cooler for the waterfront, to be fair, although that didn’t stop the swim tests from taking place. You must be able to swim if you want to use the full waterfront, so it’s worth doing the test if you want to ski, or tube, or use the Blob.

Midsummer Madness (MSM) is what we did this afternoon. This is not too dissimilar to King of the Camp, the league that we do in the first session. The boys are divided into six teams with all the major sports played, that will, come the end of the session, provide us with a winner.

This evening we started Twilight League (TLL), the ever-popular softball evening activity. Every boy, no matter their ability, is on a team, Junior, Intermediate or Senior, and we play most evenings. There are trophies to be won and fun to be had. Not only we did start TLL this evening, but after shower and dip we opened Canteen for the first time this session. Canteen – the only red and white building in camp – is where the candy and soda is stored. We only do this once a day, and the boys can only get one or the other. It’s a great way to (almost) end the day and to sit and meet new people.

And that was it for the day. We did have a campfire planned, but it was late by the time we blew flag, so we did an early to bed instead. And that means early for me too. Sleep is good, and all is well, so safely rest.

Goodnight everybody.

As ever…WOODY!
