“It turns out that confirmation bias means exactly what I thought it would mean”.
Well it was closer than perhaps it should have been in the end. Sun and Wind continued this afternoon after another morning of Big Ten instructional. We went out at 2.15 for the Pursuit Relay around the softball backstops. There were something like 18 Sun and 18 Wind team members at each backstop and all they had to do was carry the baton from backstop to backstop as quickly as their legs could carry them. Simple really. And it was the Wind that did it quicker than the Sun, which meant that they took a 3-1 lead going into Circle Dodgeball. This game is always a lot of fun. We match up the younger boys with the younger boys and the older boys with the older boys, and the staff with the staff. In this way we try to keep it as fair as possible. But whatever we did seemed to work in favour of the Sun, as they came back big with the win that made it 3-2 with just one event to go, British Bulldogs.
I am not sure how British Bulldogs got its name, but that is what we did after dinner. It’s another simple running game where each contestant has a number, and if that number is called out by the ‘mosquitos’, the contestant must attempt to run from one end of the soccer pitch to the other without getting the sock (that should be hanging out the back of his shorts) pulled. What with the spin moves and the ‘sideline shuffle’ this is game that can be won by both the smart or the fast. Wind took the first game, so now the Sun had to shine if they were going to win overall. BUT, with a mass rush of players on a classic, “all those people wearing a hat” calls, it was the Wind who took game two by 25 to 18, and thus the competition for 2023. Way to go Wind!
We finished the day relatively early this evening with a 9.40 Taps. We do need an early night. Everyone is tired, but all is well, so safely rest.
Goodnight everybody.
As ever…WOODY!
