Woody’s Word 3rd August 2023

“Before the internet, the last technology that had any real effect on the way people sat around and talked was the table.”

A late night last night meant no time to write The Word. I had been to the staff v Kawaga staff softball game in Minocqua, and we did not get back until 11.00 (wayyyyy past my bedtime, haha). I was also trying to digest a 4-2 defeat that I hadn’t expected. Oh well.

We picked ourselves up this morning and got on with Green and White. There’s a lot of Green and White to get on with, so we started with Runners and Chasers. After a lot of running and chasing, it was the Whites who had the best time, and so pushed further ahead in the competiton. After that it was circle Dodgeball. We went by age group, and remarkably the White Juniors won their round by catching every Green thrower out. I’ don’t think I’ve ever seen that happen before. The White domination of Dodge Ball did not stop there as they ran out overall winners. That gave them a comfortable cushion going into tonight’s event, Mannequin Madness. Each age group from each team dresses one team member in an outfit of their choosing, and then they read a piece about what their mannequin represents. In this endeavour, the Green team came out on top, thus closing the gap to the Whites just a little bit.

As I write this, we have night climbing going on and a bunch of pizza parties happening in the Mess Hall. The fun just goes on and on.

Tomorrow is a long day of Green and White, and we’re ready for it. Not only are we ready for it, but all is well, too, so safely rest.

Goodnight everybody.

As ever…WOODY!
