Woody’s Word
‘Diplomacy is the art of letting someone else have your own way’.
Big game tonight. As soon as I finish writing this, I will be off to the Michael Dunleavy courts to watch our counsellors take on their counterparts from Minocqua. That’s right folks, game two in the three game series takes place under the lights in a little over half an hour. Game one – the volleyball over at Camp Kawaga – resulted in a 2-1 victory for us, so we hope to continue that winning way tonight. Game three will be the softball under the lights next week. Counsellor games are a great opportunity for the campers to watch their staff play the sports the right way; the Menominee way. We want the games played in the right spirit, with the right sportsmanship and endeavor. We want both teams to play hard, but fair, so that when the final whistle blows we know that both teams gave their all, and that the best team won. I’m looking forward to it.
This Thursday was another normal day for us. There was no hangover from the social last night, although the boys are still talking about it. The temps have been in the upper 80s again, with tomorrow supposed to be the peak of the heat. The lake has been packed and the waterfront staff have certainly earnt their corn this week.
We are going to change things up tomorrow as we prep for competition against Camp Timberlane tomorrow afternoon. The boys are playing hard and having fun. Fun is good, and it’s good to have fun!
We might get some much needed rain overnight, but whether we do or whether we don’t, all is well, so safely rest.
Goodnight Everybody
As ever…WOODY!
